Biography

Manuia Taie was first seen in the biopic Gauguin the Savage (1980), based on the turbulent life of the temperamental French painter Paul Gauguin whose compulsive search for creative freedom caused him to abandon his wife and five children in Paris for life in Tahiti. Manuia may have had something to do with that decision. Certainly if the artist got a look at her in the comedy from Australia, Pacific Banana (1981), he would have left civilization even sooner.
